Training Managers to S-E-E (Spot, Engage, Escalate) “People Problems” BEFORE They Become Legal Ones

Although anti-harassment and discrimination management training has become a staple in most employers’ compliance efforts, it has actually done very little to curb the tide of EEOC charges. In fact, most EEOC charges fester in the workplace trenches, long before HR and in-house counsel can get involved and mitigate risk.

Product Description

In training managers NOT to harass or discriminate (something most never consciously do anyway), employers have neglected to train managers to exactly WHAT TO DO when conflict arises—namely, SPOT and ESCALATE the issue immediately to HR and in-house counsel. Line managers are risk management’s (e.g., HR, in-house counsel) eyes and ears. Thus, if we train managers to SPOT and ESCALATE potentially risky “people problems,” HR and in-house counsel can more effectively partner with them toward reducing risk and producing good outcomes. This program also helps frontline managers understand HR’s and in-house counsel’s critical role as their partner and protector, instead of as corporate bureaucrats making them endure the torment of an underperforming subordinate.
